Man's influence on Global Warming
Over the last 100 years man has unleashed a super power, in creating modern technology. This technology has enabled us to extend our life time, improve our standard of living to a large extent, and create many medicines to cure almost all our ills. But there is a downside to the amount of power we have. It can be lethal. It is not the way we use our technology, it is the way we create, and sustain it.
To create our sky scrapers, houses, farms, and transport, we must dig up nutrients, and metals from the ground that can not be replaced, or at least not in our life times or our children's, or their children's. After this to sustain the things we create, we need fuels, i.e. petrol, oil, and coal. When the petrol and oil are used in our engines they break down in to gases, amongst these is Carbon Dioxide. This gas is not used by the engine, and is pumped out from the exhaust and into the atmosphere.
This unbalances the carbon cycle, because the environment has no way to counter this amount of carbon dioxide being let into the atmosphere. Also as there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere the ratio between carbon, and the rest of the natural gases in the atmosphere will change. This can result in gaps/tears in the atmosphere letting in more of the Sun's rays, and therefore warming up the earth. This is called...
